Chapter Bio
IPMS Northeast New York is one of the oldest chapters in IPMS/USA. Formed as a modeling club in 1966 by founding members including Jim Maas, Art Loder, Bill Ellis, Dana Bell, Steve Zaloga, Al Sanford, Bill Clock, and Bill Rutherford, the group became a chartered chapter of IPMS/USA in 1970. One especially notable "claim to fame" for this chapter is the creation of the very first Regional Model Convention and Contest, dubbed Noreastcon, in 1972. We were proud to celebrate the 50th consecutive offering of the Region 1 Convention and Contest when we hosted the very successful Noreastcon@50 show in April of 2022. The chapter membership has changed over the years, but there are still several of the original "NENY Plank Holders" that are still providing leadership to the organization...and building models too!! We pride ourselves on being a relatively informal group who most enjoy enjoy getting together with other modelers to share our passion for scale modeling in all its various forms.
