Chapter Bio
The Colorado Modeling Militia Enjoying Sci-Fi, (CoMMiES), began in 2003 with three friends meeting at a hobby shop, bonding over our love of science fiction modeling. Over the next decade our membership grew rapidly, attracting people from around the Colorado front range and around the world. We have members from Kansas, Utah, Ontario, and even New Zealand. In 2009 we chartered as an IPMS chapter, and early the following year hosted our first local contest, CoMMiESFest. We've held the show each year since, excepting 2020 and '21, due to Covid. Despite the title of our club, our model shows welcome modelers in every category and type. We are not exclusive to sci-fi, and we encourage modelers to find joy in the hobby however they approach it. Our chief mission is to spread the fun.
